Sugar Crush

Sorry I haven’t blogged in a few weeks. It’s been a busy time.

But with warmer weather taking over much of the US it’s time to get back to focusing on healthy living, healthy eating and this blog. ๐Ÿ™‚

And the topic for the day is…sugar.

Sugar can really wreak havoc on your body, causing all kinds of health problems.

One of my favorite books about sugar is Sugar Crush.

Sugar Crush may sound like a new candy bar or a drink that will provide a great sugar high. It’s actually a plan, carefully formulated by top nerve surgeon, Dr. Richard Jacoby. Sugar Crush will shock you with Jacoby’s explanation of the link between sugar and preventable medical conditions.

You may also be shocked when you find out that the average American consumes over 160 pounds of sugar per year. It’s one reason why medical bills and premature deaths are rising, just from the problems obesity causes.

We love sugar. It’s evident by the thousands of new cases of diabetes each year, adding the expense of over $175 billion per year. When you get diabetes, your brain begins to shut off functioning of your arms, legs and kidneys and you’re more likely to have a stroke.

If that’s not enough to make you want to eliminate sugar from you diet, you can add high cholesterol, high blood pressure, headaches, acid reflux disorder and fatigue. Those maladies and more are just an example of the growing sugar epidemic and how it’s affecting the population.

Sugar Crush provides so much information on sugar addiction that you’ll have no doubt when you finish the book that sugar needs to be eliminated permanently from your life. There’s a list in the book of other names that sugar hides behind.

Some of those sugary food additives include fructose, corn sweetener, corn syrup, dextrose and brown sugar. There are many more on the list but you get the idea, we’re being lied to and sabotaged in our efforts to lose weight and get healthy.

There’s one shocking fact after another in Sugar Crush. If you don’t already know what sugar does to our bodies, you’ll find out as the authors explain how your pancreas becomes unable to do its job because of processing the sugar in your system, insulin resistance occurs.

When your insulin gets too much for the pancreas to handle, the insulin and blood sugar become inflamed. It’s then that you realize you’re in big trouble. Your immune system falters, triglycerides, blood pressure and cholesterol are raised to levels which put you in high risk for a heart attack or stroke.

Dry skin, allergies and wrinkles add to your problems that sugar has created and your blood vessels and nerves become inflamed. That leads to compression of the nerves that makes it more difficult for the brain to communicate with the rest of your body.

Sugar Crush reads just like a cliffhanger novel. You won’t be able to put it down after awhile because it’s revealing and explaining one incredible fact after another about how sugar can be your downfall.

But, there is hope. You can turn your failing health around by using the tools offered in Sugar Crush to rid yourself of the cravings and reverse the damage that has already occurred.

It’s worth a read, over and over again!

  1. I am a fan of infrequent and random blog post. So don’t apologize to your readers unless you normally are on a schedule and you missed the schedule (at least that is my personal opinion). Thanks for this post about sugar. My wife and I are working out in the evenings together and we probably need to look at this closer. I have triglycerides that are in the 600 to 700 range but all my other numbers are perfect including blood pressure. I know I am at risk of my pancreas failing and as long as I stay hydrated and eat a few greens my numbers go down drastically (but not enough). Maybe this book is exactly what I need. Thanks again. – Keith

  2. More and more, I’m reading about how sugar is the real enemy in our diet. I do try to cut out as much as possible, especially in the way of drinks. If I have a weak moment and open a Coke (or soda, as non-Texans say), it generally leaves me feeling poorly.

    1. Fellow Texan here gave up sodas years ago didn’t matter. I was a Fresca man. Sometimes I have a vitamin water zero or other articial sweetened drink after a long bike ride or 100 degree day. Muscles require glucose to function.

  3. Sugar is the silent death that not many people are aware of. It is in quite a lot of things that we eat… thanks for taking the time to write this and pray more persons will see it and make a change in their lives.

  4. I’m off all sugar last 7 months but still have honey with my tea. Lost 40lbs ,and still 20lbs to go! I m actually much calmer now, too; I used to get “sugar highs” from bowls of ice cream back then.

  5. I eliminated 98% of processed grains from my diet this year and it did nothing for my weight. I’m cycling 50-200 miles per week, walking and yoga daily. Yes I eat dark chocolate and some.sugars but way less than before. Some of us just have poor genes and metabolisms and are destined to be fathletes.

  8. Sugar is death! That’s why I’ve cut the majority of sugars out of my diet. I’m glad I realized young, the amount of damage it can do to your body. Kudos to you for touching on this! In my opinion, sugar is just as dangerous and addictive as any drug.

BTW, thanks for liking my post! ๐Ÿ˜€

  9. Great stuff here Kristen,
There was a study done on monkeys where the monkeys who were given unlimited food died and the monkeys with limited intake lived longer and aged much more slowly. Insulin!!! as well as other hormones in play lead to the death of these monkeys with unlimited intake. Thanks for looking at my blogs.

  10. Great article Kristen. A couple of months ago I cut out the processed sugar (I was having chocolate before bed- probably the worst time to have some). Not only have i lost a few pounds (although that wasn’t my intention) but I just feel better for it.
