Today we consider the paleo diet…
Paleo for Beginners has sold more copies than any other Paleo cookbook. The reason might be that the word is out about how it helps you lose weight and feel good. It’s not a trendy diet, but one that takes us back to the days when we lived in caves.
Written by John Chatham, a best-selling health and diet author, Paleo for Beginners is a diet plan designed to give you the energy and health you need to make positive lifestyle changes.
If you’re an avid carnivore, this may be the diet that works for you. You’ll be eating low, carbohydrate, high-protein meals while giving up the processed foods that harm your health and increase the risk of diabetes, coronary disease and hypertension.
Beginners to the Paleo style of dieting will be encouraged by the amount of energy they have and the fact that they don’t feel hungry during the first week of the plan. There’s a list of 145 foods that are best to consume on the Paleo plan ñ and a comprehensive list of foods you should avoid.
The recipes for meals are wonderfully diverse, healthy and hearty. You’ll have an extensive shopping guide that will lessen the time you have to spend figuring out what you’ll need.
Although the Paleo diet has been available for over forty years, it’s just become popular during the past few years. In the beginning it was known as the Stone Age Diet, but people were hesitant to try it because of the belief at the time that low-fat and low-calorie foods were the best choices.
There are various versions of the Paleo diet, all different in how closely the diet of our cave-dwelling ancestors is followed. Paleo for Beginners teaches and advocates the nutritional parts of the Paleo diet, but the plan isn’t complicated or unrealistic for a modern-day existence.
Within the book, you’ll find out what the Paleo diet is all about. That’s essential for beginners to know because when you discover the positive benefits ñ digestive system health, immune system boost and lack of cravings.
You’ll learn how to shop for food on the diet, plan your meals and most important ñ how to get the mindset to realize success. There’s even a helpful quiz to find out which type of cave-person you are.
Do you eat out most of the time, like to focus on prepared foods with a few side dishes or do you have problems managing your time. The answers to the quiz will help you know what’s best for you to have the best chance for success on the Paleo diet.
Of course you’ll find the best of Paleo recipes to get you started and keep you going. This isn’t a crash diet where you want to lose 10 pounds for a wedding or class reunion. Paleo for Beginners sets you up for changing your lifestyle to a simple and better way of eating.

What are your thoughts on the paleo diet?
Im now Primal as I do incorporate a bit of dairy into my diet. I have gone down a couple of sizes and removed about 15 kg. My skin is much better no more eczema. Although I think I might do full Paleo again.

We loosely follow Paleo and always feel better during that time. Soon as we fall off and consume too many carbs in a day we know why Paleo works better for us. 😊

I can’t stick with the lack of dairy… so I did Keto. But I am slowly incorporating more fruit and possibly honey. I think, for me at least, it is more about being grain free and processed sugar free to keep off the weight and feel good

I am finding too, the more important foods to avoid are grains and refined sugar. I do like cream in my coffee 🙂

I may have to try this. A girl I follow on YouTube and Instagram tried it and liked the energy she got from it.

I’m always concerned about the amount of time I’ll spend shopping and cooking. My spouse and I work A LOT of hours and when I get home, I’m still doing marketing, social media. We’re doing a low carb diet right now because we both need to lose about 30 pounds. What a struggle!

Paleo is my choice too, feel good and taste good food, unfortunately it works out expensive, this is what I’ve noticed anyway.

As a strength, fitness & performance coach, I generally try to find the nutrition plan that my clients/athletes can A.) execute successfully within their lives and schedules, B.) enjoy and live with sustainably, and C.) have success with in moving toward their goals. Paleo fits for some people. I prefer a ketogenic-based nutrition plan, while some of my clients have succeeded with other types of plans. Choose what you can succeed AND live with.
This was a well-written review of this book. Thanks!

We emailed each other somewhere, but I don’t recall where. Can you help me with that?

While some have found the Paleo diet helpful for weight loss, all would be wise to consider the long term effects on their bodies and compare with healthy eating choices .
Thank you for visiting my blog on diet and memory. I hope you will stop by again.

I tried Paleo for awhile because it is the recommended diet for people with MS like myself. I wasn’t able to maintain it very well as the rest of my family is not paleo and I was cooking multiple meals at a time for me and my kids. I do still maintain a very healthy diet to continue weight loss and keeping myself physically healthy. Paleo opened my eyes to a lot of really healthy options!

I had a ton of GI problems. Not lactose intolerant, not celiac, no real allergies, paleo fixed me up real good. And I lost 38 pounds. When I went off of it, everything returned. So, yay paleo.
